UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, BERKELEY
COMPUTATIONAL BIOLOGY
FOUR POSTDOCTORAL POSITIONS

As part of a major expansion of computational molecular biology and genomics at Berkeley, the Arkin and Brenner groups have openings for four postdoctoral fellows, as well as multiple scientific programmers & system administrators.

The Brenner group investigates computational structural and functional genomics. We develop methods for analysis and integration of genomic sequence, structure, and expression data. Two postdoctoral positions are available for distant homology detection from sequence and structure; protein selection for crystallographic studies, and analysis of solved structures; prediction of gene function using genomics & phylogeny; or any related area of computational molecular biology.

The Arkin laboratory focuses on analysis of complex biochemical and genetic reaction networks. We develop theory and tools that take the vast amount of data available about specific pathways in an organism of interest and predict cellular function and response to perturbation and engineering. Postdoctoral positions are available in any related area of computational/theoretical biology.

Applicants for postdoctoral positions should have Ph.D. or M.D. and programming experience. Please send a summary of scientific interests, curriculum vitae, reprints, and three references to: Dr. Steven E. Brenner (genomics) and/or Dr. Adam Arkin (cell networks), 130A Melvin Calvin Laboratory, University of California, Berkeley, CA 94720-5320.
